The Hamilton Princess yesterday gave a sneak preview of the new look for the grand old lady of Bermuda hotels.
And the first phase of the $90 million updating of the hotel — which dates back to the 19th century — is on schedule for opening to the public this summer.
“Ultimately, this is a game changer for Bermuda because now this is the benchmark, so it’s good for all of us,” Scott Evans, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, said.
He was speaking as hotel management showed off the hotel’s new features, which includes a new marina, a completely revamped Poinciana wing, a new bar and restaurant and infinity pool.

As part of the $90 million redevelopment, the Green Family, owners of The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, today announces the new marina will open in mid-July.
The new state-of-the-art marina will have up to 60 permanent berths available for locals who are interested in marina facilities in Hamilton Harbour. There will be additional space available for visiting craft of all sizes including super yachts.
It will be the only full service marina in Bermuda with integrated pump-out facilities, custom electrical service and water distribution. Floating docks have high freeboard and are concrete for permanence and stability. Full length fingers offer berth sizes ranging from 25 to 75 feet and are available on annual leases with the option of monthly payments. Service will be available from the hotel and includes ice, food and beverage, alcohol, picnic hampers and more.
